"Teach your children what we taught our children. The earth does not belong to us; we belong to the earth.
All things are connected, like the blood, which connects one family. Mankind did not weave the web of life.
We are but one strand within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves."

~ Chief Seattle (c. 1786-1866)

Proprietors, George O. and Lisa T. Fishler:

George and Lisa bring their passion for the environment, their knowledge and their personal experiences together to form Earthaven. They help people make decisions that will improve their present quality of life without compromising future generations’ ability to do the same.

Lisa is an artist, whose heart is deeply connected to all things in Nature. She identifies closely with the beliefs of her Japanese ancestors who were Shinto Priests. She earned her BA in Asian studies from Vassar College with a concentration on Eastern Philosophies and Religion, and an MA in Health Arts and Science from Goddard College, where she focused on the connections between one's Environment and one's Health. Lisa combines her artistic skills, education and life experiences to offer consultation on the connections between Home and Health, and to help her clients navigate the plethora of Natural design and Sustainable Living options. Lisa's true vocation is campus sustainability. She recently became the Sustainability Coordinator for the Green Schools Alliance, as well as the Green Schools Advocacy Committee Leader for the USGBC New York Upstate Chapter - Hudson Valley Branch.

George is an artist as well, equally enamored by the natural world. He has a BA in Communication from SUNY New Paltz, and is presently a Master's candidate at the Bard Center for Environmental Policy. His thesis is looking into the changes that need to be made at the policy level in order for Eco-friendly building practices to become the industry standard. Not at all green to "green," he and his experienced crew are motivated by a desire to make healthy green building options accessible to all who seek them. They offer conscientious and high-quality construction and renovation services for healthy and inspired spaces; benefiting the client, the home and the Earth. George is currently working on the Earthaven Green Home project, which serves as a wonderful showcase for his abilities.
